For Christmas we decided to spruce up our bedroom a bit.

I have been dying to get my dream bedframe for a few years - but still can't get myself to spend the money on it.

This is what I am thinking to do for our master bedroom on a smaller budget.

We are in the middle of putting everything together, making a headboard, and I'm excited for it to be done and share with you!

I Have My Eyes On You! Valentine

On Sunday, Presley and I decided to make her valentines.

We took a look in the craft closet, and Presley had to use the "googly eyes"!

So after some brainstorming, this is what we came up with!

I created this in Illustrator,

And then Presley went through and drew each of her friends on the faces.

There was nothing funnier/sweeter than hearing her talk about what color hair they had, if it was long or short, if they had eyelashes, etc.

This simple valentine, was a lot of fun!

Chocolate Chip Salted Caramel Bars

I have a sweet treat to share with you in honor of Valentine's Day.

My friend and professional baker Brooke told me about these bars from Two Peas and Their Pod, and I knew I had to try them!

I have only made them with my staple cookie recipe. (Recipe below.)

But I just had Brooke's that we made from their recipe too, and they were incredible.

Mine come out less of a bar and more of a thick cookie, both are amazing!

Here is my take on this sweet treat:

Cookie Recipe:

(adapted from my girl Caitlin's recipe)

1 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 cup brown sugar

2 eggs

1 1/2 t vanilla

3 cups flour

1 t baking soda

1 t salt

2 bars good chocolate, chopped*

1/2 bag chocolate chips*

*I alternate the bar of chocolate and the chips, I like to have mixed chocolates.

For example, bars of dark chocolate and milk chocolate chips.

If I don't have bars I will just use two different bags of chocolate chips.

Caramel:

10 oz caramel squares

3 T evaporated milk

Sea salt, for sprinkling

Directions:

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Make the cookie dough.

Melt caramel and evaporated milk in a pan, stirring constantly.

In a 11x7 pan put a layer of cookie dough,

Add caramel on top, sprinkle with sea salt

Drop small spoonfuls of cookie dough on top, covering caramel.

Sprinkle more sea salt.

Bake in preheated oven for 18-20 minutes.

Let cool, it is even better the next day when the caramel has cooled.

Enjoy!

Heart Banner DIY

I made this super simple heart banner and thought I'd share!

All you need:

Colored Paper

Embroidery Thread

Needle

Yarn

Cut your paper into varying sized hearts.

Thread your needle and sew hearts together.

Fold heart in half and sew about a 1/4 inch in so that the hearts don't lay flat.

To add some interest randomly layer hearts.

Once your hearts are all strung, tie each end.

Glue a yarn hook onto each end and hang up as a banner.

These could also be darling hanging from the ceiling so that you can see all angles of the hearts.

Baby Ford's Blessing

Ford with his namesake, S.R.D. on his special day

Last Sunday was a special day for our family.

We blessed baby Ford with every single member of his family there!

It is very rare that we would have everyone in town,

so we knew we had to take advantage of that and do his blessing a bit early.

After the blessing we all headed back to my parents for some great food and sweet treats!

It was the perfect day.

I loved looking around and being surrounded by our family.

My Dad gave Dan a bag of rolled up Ford shirts to pass out instead of cigars.

With all of us together on Sunday, it was the perfect opportunity to get this photo.

All the men in Ford's life.

(no, we did not name him after the car, just a play on words :)

I wanted to keep things fairly simple, since I was just a little over three weeks out.

I made labels for the food and dessert, printed up some photos of Ford, and used banners and straws from my baby shower.

It all turned out great, and most importantly the food was amazing!

I don't eat burgers myself,

but we found it appropriate to celebrate our baby boy with mini burgers.

The Davis' love a good burger so it was the perfect accent to all the salads.

DIY Craft Jars

Another one of the gifts I made for Christmas were these animal craft jars.

I saw an image floating around pinterest, and loved them!

Easy Directions:

I bought jars at Container Store

Found plastic animals at Michaels

And used spray paint I had.

First decide which animals are going on which jars based on size.

Then spray paint each animal/lid separately.

I used a combination of crazy glue and my hot glue gun on the feet of the animals.

Place on lids.

Let dry.

Fill jars with size appropriate craft supplies.

Presley was so excited about these jars and loves to "craft" now.

It has been a fun gift that the whole family has used with Presley!

A Handmade Gift :: Fabric Dolls

I always try and incorporate some handmade gifts at Christmas, but this year with Dan a full time student and a lot of family to celebrate with, I had to get creative!

I decided to make dolls out of left over fabric and felt I had in my supplies.

They turned out totally quirky, but I loved them and couldn't wait for two of my nieces and Presley to open their personalized dolls on Christmas morning.

Presley's doll is on the right, with the white hair of course!

All tucked away in their boxes ready to be opened.

I blogged about Whimsy Place here, and wanted to share what the generous girls of

Whimsy Place created for our family Christmas cards.

I am so glad that we were able to get a card out this year thanks to Whimsy Place.

I just let her know the basic idea of what I wanted - the wording and the lotus wreath with a D, our family photo, and they sent me this darling card.

Chocolate Crackle Cookies

I am sad to not be doing neighbor gifts (sweet treats packaged up nice) this year.

This month we are simplifying with all that is coming up.

But, I was craving some of my favorite Christmas cookies, and some of our friends in the neighborhood did luck out since I made a double batch!

I want to make another batch today - I like them that much!

I recommend you make yourself, or Santa some of these cooks this holiday season!

I'll repost the recipe below:

Chocolate Crackle Cookies

(or as we now call them, snowman cookies)

recipe adapted from Martha Stewart

1 bag chocolate chips, half semi sweet, half milk chocolate

1 1/4 c flour**

1/2 c cocoa powder

2 t. baking powder

1/4 t. salt

8 T (1 stick) butter, at room temperature

1 1/3 c. brown sugar, firmly packed

2 large eggs

1 t. vanilla extract

1/3 c milk

1 c. granulated sugar, for rolling

1 c. powdered sugar, for rolling
(I coat them in a lot of powdered sugar, they turn out prettier that way)

** I added a little more flour since it is pretty runny - but remember you are chilling the dough so it can be a bit runny**

Heat oven to 350 degrees. Melt chocolate chips over medium low heat, careful to not burn. Let cool. In a separate bowl combine flour, cocoa, baking powder, and salt. In your mixer beat butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla, beat until well combined. Add melted chocolate to dough, combine. Alternate adding milk and dry ingredients until just combined.

Divide dough and wrap in plastic. Chill in refrigerator until firm, about 2 hours. Remove dough, roll into 1 inch balls and dust in bowl of granulated sugar, and then powdered sugar. Place on silpat-lined cookie sheet. Bake about 12 minutes until cookies have flattened and sugar cracks.

Enjoy!

I wanted these photos to not be "maternity" but just photos of us that I happen to have a big pregnant body in.

Baby To Presley Gift

We have heard of the idea to have a gift from your newborn to your other child the first time they meet.

I liked the idea, but wasn't sure what I would have the baby give to Presley.

When I saw this darling wood camera from TwigCreative on Pinterest, I thought it would be the perfect gift!

I am excited for Presley to use her camera to "document" her new friendship with her baby brother.

I hope she likes it!

The Next Two Weeks

It is a rainy and cozy morning for us here.

And I'm loving being bundled up inside with my girl, playing the matching game, and eating breakfast.

There is so much goodness going on in the next two weeks, I can hardly sleep at night!

My birthday, our Baby's arrival(!!!), and Christmas.

Luckily we are having a very simple Christmas this year and everything is done and wrapped so I can just enjoy these last moments with my girl, just the three of us.

We all couldn't be more excited about the expected arrival any day now.

Life is full.

I am still going to try and post through out the week, but no promises!

I keep seeing the above quote, and it could not be more true.

My home is where ever I'm with Dan, Presley, and Baby.

DIY Felt Leaf Garland Re-Post

I was inspired by a felt garland I saw at Anthropologie and thought it would be perfect for our stairs or mantel!

This craft is super simple!!! It is just time consuming cutting all the leaves. I took two nights of putting on a movie/show and chatting with girlfriends and it was done.

All you need:

1 1/2 yards each of two different green felt

red balls

(and scissors and a hot glue gun)

(sorry about the poor iphone shots! It was late, and I didn't have my camera.)

First cut the 1-1 1/2" strips along the long yard side of your felt. I used three strips.

I then started with a simple template drawing of a leaf for the first set of leaves.

I cut 8 rectangles, then leaves at a time.

Leave the top of the leaf (the loop) to cut individually!

To make the loop it is very simple, create a circle at the top of your leaf, and then fold in half and make a small slit. You want it to be about 1/2 the size of your strip, so that it will bend while hung.

Once your leaves are all cut and the loops are made, string the leaves onto your strips at random.

I put about 5 leaves on before I pulled them through my strip.

Once all of your strips are filled with the leaves, glue your corners at an angle like below:

This way it will hang pretty!

Then glue thin strips long enough to tie around your banister onto the back of the corner.

Glue the red balls on top of the corner and your ready to hang!

(if you are hanging on a mantel you don't need the ties)

I originally wanted to add felt balls, but couldn't find any so I used these sparkly balls from Michaels.

Our Week

We have had a busy week!

I can't believe it is already Monday.

Here is a snapshot of our life this last week.

Picking out our Christmas tree, it took a few lots before we found silver tip trees.

My tiny artist painting along side Mommy.

I painted a piece for Baby's room.

A fun craft night with friends.

Wrapping up some of my last work projects before Baby by Christmas tree light.

Celebrating my Mom's birthday.

Working by the fire.

Decorating out tree.

Making gingerbread houses.

And an evening with my sweet Mother sewing Baby's bedding!

Life is full and busy, I feel very blessed.

Now, it's time to rest up before Baby and get done all of the last minute things,

and hopefully get over this cold asap!

Pumpkin Pecan Waffles with Cranberry Syrup

To celebrate the first day of December, I thought I'd share this perfect winter breakfast.
One of our favorite holiday traditions has been making these waffles.
They are so good, trust me and try them!

I will admit to cheating most the time on the recipe. Presley is just as obsessed as me, so we eat this often. On most mornings I just use the box mix of pumpkin waffles from Trader Joes, and then make the syrup. For special occasions, like Christmas morning, we make them from scratch.

I found this recipe in the Williams Sonoma Breakfast book a long time ago and made it for my family when I was single one Christmas season. We were all so obsessed it has turned into a tradition ever since! My dad has been known to ask me to come over and make some waffles for them when it is our year with the in laws. I love to make this all season long, but we especially love it on Christmas morning!

Pumpkin Pecan Waffles

with Maple Cranberry Butter (and Syrup!)

Maple-Cranberry Butter:

1/2 cup fresh or frozen cranberries

1/4 cup pure maple syrup (no aunt jemimas! :)

1 cup butter, at room temp

To make the maple cranberry butter, combine cranberries and maple syrup in a saucepan over low heat, stirring frequently until the cranberries have softened and popped, about 5 minutes.

Let cool, then place in a large bowl with the butter. Beat with a wooden spoon until just combine, cover and set in the fridge until ready to serve

*** I started making a lot of the syrup, and sometimes I make the butter too. We love our pancakes with cranberry syrup. Just add amount of syrup desired with cranberries, and stir over low heat until cranberries pop. This is so simple and my favorite part!

Pumpkin Pecan Waffles:

1 cup flour, sifted

1 T firmly packed brown sugar

1 t baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 1/4 cups whole milk

1 large egg, lightly beaten

1 1/2 T butter, melted

2/3 c pumpkin puree

1/3 c coarsely chopped pecans

To make the waffles, preheat a waffle iron. In a large bowl whisk together the flour, brown sugar, baking powder, and salt until well mixed. IN a large glass measuring pitcher whisk together the milk, egg and butter. Stir the milk mixture and the pumpkin puree into the dry ingredients until just blended. The batter may be slightly lumpy - do not overmix! Stir in pecans. Pour batter evenly onto waffle iron and cook!

To serve, it is pretty to serve the waffles with a scoop of the butter, and drizzle on maple syrup. It is nice to serve maple syrup and the cranberry maple syrup version for those that don't want too much cranberry.

Holiday Decorating and An Old DIY: Felt Wreath

Our little family has started the tradition of decorating our house for Christmas every year on Black Friday.

So even though I've never been out shopping on Black Friday, we do get up, turn on the Christmas music and unload the Christmas boxes.

I love it and am dying to get my decorations out every year.

I thought I would re post some of previous year's crafts for you all.

I also try and make something new each year for our home's decor.

Here is a little tutorial on how to make this felt wreath. Any color combo will do, but I do love the white, cream, and grey.

Last week a couple of friends and I got together for a craft night.

Obviously I am obsessed with crafting and felt this holiday season - I can't get enough.

These wreaths were super easy and props to Ashly for figuring out how to make them!

What you'll need:

Styrofoam wreath (or any wreath base)

Felt, one color or multiple

Hot glue gun

Any embellishments

Cut your felt into a square

These do not need to be perfect, I liked that mine were all different sizes.

Fold in half and cut a half circle

Cut slits into half circle getting pretty close to the center.

Once again, I made 4-5 slits, it can differ

I used white, creme, and grey

After cutting all of my circles, I used a pencil to glue the felt to the wreath.

First, wrap the felt around the eraser end, and generously dot with glue gun.

Then push the felt into the styrofoam and hold to let dry.

I wanted to put glittered birds and what nots in mine, but didn't find what I was looking for,

so I made a Happy Holidays sign and placed that in the middle.

Feeling Grateful

We had such a lovely holiday weekend spent with family and friends.

Nothing beats the holiday season being surrounded by those you love.

I am grateful for so many things. These are a few that really stood out over Thanksgiving weekend.

My girl Presley. Sweet, snuggly, funny, and full of personality.

This baby boy coming any day who we already love so much.

My sweetheart. He is supportive, loving, and always makes me laugh.

Family. Near and far, we are so fortunate for those in our life.

Friends. I have the best friends, feeling very blessed.

Yummy flavors.

Creating things with my hands, making magic out of scraps.

A mother I can call at any time for advice or just to chat.

A father who loves me, and inspires me.

Our house we've made a home. Beautiful, peaceful, full of laughter, and on a good day clean.

Seasons. As little as we get here, I love the colder weather at this time of year and the spirit of the holidays it brings.

Opportunity.

On A Baby High

I am on a total baby high!

Last night was my darling shower that my family and friends put on for me and Baby. I was so overwhelmed with feeling the love! Many of my dearest gathered to celebrate something I am so excited about, it doesn't get better than that. I seriously feel so lucky to be surrounded by so many incredible people. I thought I'd give you all a little sneak peek of some shots of my shower with my iphone. Every detail was perfection! Please notice even the pattern of the paper goods matching Baby's crib bedding. I love it!

I will have more and better photos to share next week from my friend and photog.

I got back late from the shower and Dan and I sat in the nursery going through all the perfect gifts daydreaming of our baby boy. It is making everything so real and I seriously can not wait until this baby is in his cozy new clothes and in my arms.

Super Girl!

Presley was all over the board last month on what she wanted to be, and then "Super Girl" stuck.

We're not sure where she got this idea, playground friends??

But I love it, and she has been so excited!

Today was her first time wearing her costume and I could hardly get her to sit still for a pic.

Major Nesting

I am in a major nesting mode.

All weekend we were rearranging all of our existing furniture, making room for Baby.

It was exciting and a little sad to move some of my favorite spaces around, but the good thing is that we are being much smarter about our space.

As soon as the spaces are finished I'll share more of the family of four transformation.

(It's not that exciting, no new purchases were made :)

Thursday Thoughts

First, thank you all so much for your input on the family photos! I am glad to hear that I am not the only one that can't narrow it down - but I can't wait to get one (or a few...) up in Baby's room!

Second, I am probably a sight to see as I work from home today in this 90 degree weather with the AC cranking, a fall soundtrack playing, and one of my favorite fall scents lit. It will be fall in my world.

Also, have you seen Zara's recent lookbooks?

We found out really early with this pregnancy the sex of the baby.

12 weeks along and the doctor could tell it was a boy!

On the way home from our appointment I told Dan I wanted to paint his room a deep green,

(which we are no longer doing until Dan knows his future job and we aren't in transition. Until then the walls will stay white.)

and blow up poster size an old photo of my Dad to hang in baby's room.

The problem is, I can't decide on which one to use! And I only have two more months .....

My Favorite Sandwich :: Tomato Havarti and Basil

Tomato Havarti and Basil Baguettes

I joke with my friend Lindsay that I owe her my life for introducing me to this sandi! It is my absolute favorite and right up my alley with the havarti cheese!

My tips:

Get nice quality bread - there aren't many ingredients so they need to be good!

I use heirloom tomatoes every time, they make the sandwich.
Be generous with all the ingredients.

Recipe:

Bread or baguettes

Pesto

Mayonnaise

Lemon

Basil

Havarti Cheese

Heirloom Tomatoes

Prep the spread: add 3 parts pesto to 2 parts mayonnaise and squeeze half a lemon. Mix and set aside.

Slice bread, cheese, and tomatoes. (I salt my tomatoes)

Grill bread on panini until lightly toasted.

Generously add pesto spread to both sides.

Layer on Basil, tomatoes, and cheese.

Slice and enjoy warm!

Three Easy Halloween DIYs

This weekend I gave myself a challenge to come up with some new Halloween decor using materials I already had.

I was really close! All I needed was some embroidery thread.

These are all very simple but have added so much to our little stash of Halloween decorations.

I made two of these pendant banners, and am tempted to make a few more, I love how they turned out.

This above idea I saw in the Sweet Paul Magazine this month. I knew I was making this for sure!

This wreath probably needs a little more help, but I am happy enough with it.

I am thinking of adding some spider web or maybe once we have our pumpkins out it will help...

I like how all the rough and loose edges to the fabric add a creepy feel to the decor if you will.
That's about as far as I take it. I definitely like my Halloween to be more "cute" than "scary"!

October Weekend + A 29 Week Baby Bump

I love October, and despite our HOT weather, I was determined to make it feel cozy and festive!

We were able to stay in and watch our church's General Conference while crafting and doing some weekend projects.

Lots of crafting took place, I will share the DIY's this week!

We made these yummy treats for Sunday morning found through Pinterest.

They were good, Dan was obsessed.

And I'm officially 29 weeks!

What?! I can't believe that I am in my third trimester ... time is flying.

We can not wait for this baby boy to be here.

He is already so loved by us all.

The Wedding of Mikelle & Jud

I am so excited to share with you photos from the wedding I styled for Mikelle and Jud!

The wedding was in May in Salt Lake City, Utah at the McCune Mansion.

We didn't want to distract from the beautiful and historical mansion, and the bride really wanted the evening to feel classic, romantic, intimate and not the least bit trendy.

The day was perfect, and the gorgeous newlyweds were happy and so in love.

I blogged about the beautiful couple and their amazing style here. I die over her dress!

How gorgeous is the bride? It definitely helped that she was stunning, stylish, and sure of her visual voice.

The groom in a bow tie of course.

The bride's bouquet inspired by the bride's favorite flowers, peonies.

Blush tones and a very romantic feel.

The McCune Mansion has such a great presence, we were able to highlight it's beauty without taking away from the architectural detail.

We really wanted the mansion to be a large part of the aesthetic.

The florals were very romantic. Sprigs at each place setting, loose centerpieces, and everything drenched in candlelight.

I posted about these books that I made inspired by a Martha Stewart Weddings guest sign in idea.

The bride's cousin is an artist, we had her sketch different scenes throughout the evening.

We wanted to have photos of the couple from childhood to engagement, but we wanted to put our own twist on it rather than a video montage playing. This was our take. Can you tell that I am obsessed with interior styling and wanted to bring a touch of that in? Color and black and white photos were placed in vintage and new frame collections through out the mansion.

We had a harpist playing throughout the garden hors d'oeuvres and during the sit down dinner.

The framed photos were a great conversation piece for guests as well!

A live band serenaded the dance floor for the last hour during the cake, dancing, and dessert.

The bride and groom's send off with handfuls of dried lavender.

It was such a great experience to work with the Petersen's and get to know them.

Happy Monday!

We had a great low key weekend.

We welcomed our nephew, the most beautiful baby boy, into the world all weekend long.

Organized (nesting), ate good food, watched football, and enjoyed each other's company.

We actually had a bit of fall weather this weekend!

Is there anything better than the changing of seasons from summer to fall?

A couple impromptu dance parties of course.

Can you tell she loves to dance?

Enjoyed the flea market with this bombshell above.

We found this beauty of a chair for her place, and I am obsessed!

My body may have fallen apart after our morning of scouring.

This pregnancy has not been easy on my bod, baby boy is big and healthy in there.

And that is all that matters.

Wishes For Baby

As mentioned, I helped with a baby shower for one of my besties. I made the garlands mentioned here.

I had seen the idea of "wishes for baby" a while back and had it stored away to use for someone special. I was so excited to make some for Lisa!

It was really fun to read some of the guests wishes for Lisa's baby girl.

I know this is something I would love to have for my babes!

You can get sentimental or comical with your remarks, it was a great party idea.

Update: Some of you have asked how I made these, I created them in Illustrator, then printed and cut them out.

Back To School Report

The night before school we ran to the mall to find something special for Presley's first day of school. I didn't get a thing of my wish list ... maybe one day when the sales hit?

But, we did find about 12 things I was dying over at Zara kids! We had to narrow that down from 12 to about 2, but I was happy with what we found.

(the backpack we ordered hasn't come yet!)

I can't believe my girl is off at preschool!

Long Weekend

This lazy labor day morning has me cleaning and thinking back to our time in Montana with family and big open skies. It is breathtakingly beautiful out there. And, there is something so freeing about being in the open with no internet service or cable. I, we, loved every minute of it!

The only bummer: Dan couldn't make it because of finals week. Boo.

As we pulled up to the cabin my aunt and uncle were just coming in from a ride. Presley literally went from her car seat to the saddle. She was in heaven!

My Aunt Helen and cousin Marianne left freshly picked wildflowers on my nightstand. It was the perfect welcome back, and I loved waking up to them each morning.

Morning snuggles with Uncle Michael.

The next morning, the horses were outside the cabin and Presley was able to go on another ride - this time bareback! She was a natural.
She was spoiled rotten and able to go on the horses every day.

We played lakeside every single day.

Presley got some big scrapes and bruises along the way ...

(ie: falling from the top of the teeter totter, falling out of the tube on the lake behind the boat, shocked from the electrical fence ...)

Baby Girl Shower

I helped my friends Chelsea and Shannon throw a shower for my girl Lisa last night.

I forgot my camera! So Ben brought us one to borrow, but I will have to wait to show you better photos.

I loved how the garland turned out, I can't wait to use it again and Presley wants it to be up in her room in between parties.

I am so excited for this sweet baby girl to be here, I already love her so!

Back To School: Backpacks

My baby girl is starting her first year of Preschool (Co-Op) in a couple weeks and I am in search of a backpack.

Presley could not be more excited about school and talks about it all day every day.

She is in a small group with her friends and can't believe that she is going to go to school like Daddy is right now.

Home Sweet Home

We are finally home after two weeks of travel.

Montana, Utah, and Northern California.

I am looking forward to getting settled and no longer living out of a suitcase.

The nesting phase is totally kicking in so I am anxious to get a lot done with our house and prepare for Baby Boy this holiday season.

This is a really fun nursery that's more modern than most nurseries we've seen. The designer played a lot with blue patterns and stripes, too. This is quite a chic space for a nursery, wouldn't you say? If you have a little nook like this in your nursery, you can place the crib there to save on space. If you have a little more room, you can add some direct lighting with accent lamps atop a cupboard for toys, books and clothes.

Though blue nurseries are usually saved for baby boys, these are so darling, that they would be cute for baby girls, too!

Girls Trip

Last Monday Presley and I headed off for an adventure with my family. We spent a week in Montana and a couple days in Utah. It has been so much fun.

We are traveling home today (Me with a heinous cough! Why do I always get sick when I travel? I need to invest in some airborne...)

Ruby Jane Taylor

My dear friend Ani is going through pain I can not imagine. Her and her family lost their Ruby Jane to a battle with liver failure last week. Ruby's sweet spirit, story and fight have forever changed me. Ani's grace and strength through the entire process inspires me to be a better mother and woman. I wish I could have posted about this earlier in the week but we were in Montana with absolutely no internet connection. You can read more of the Taylor's story here through Ani's voice. Wood Stained Art :: Beth's Place

I was at my girl Beth's house yesterday and snapped a few shots of her bohemian abode.

I painted the stained wood for her as mentioned, of their wedding song.

I made it almost the width of their sofa and it has a big impact in the space.

Next month we are off to the flea market and are going to restyle a bookshelf.

Flats to Love

I can't stop thinking about these scarf tied flats that I spotted yesterday.

(Dear Dan, remember our anniversary that is coming up? I'm just saying ...)

A friend recently showed me that she found my every day go to sandals that were falling apart,

And for half the price!

I had first found these at Anthropologie, and then they were at Free People, but they were no where to be found once I had gotten to the point of needing repair.

Baby Boy Shower

Last week we celebrated my soon to be nephew and it was a party!

Brittany (Shannon's sister), Suzanne (my sister in law), and I threw an all white baby shower with touches of green.

We also had a baby boy themed photo booth as entertainment instead of games.

It was a hit!

Here are the invites that the talented Ashly of Kidlark designed for the party:

The back had a darling green pin dot that will not load. And they were a smaller sized invite.

The yummy spread.

Every single thing on that table was unreal!

Thank you again to everyone who brought something.

We had them bring their food in a white dish, and provided some for those that didn't have anything.

I love how pretty the table turned out with the all white, touches of green, and the contrast of the chalkboard labels.

The mama to be has had a serious craving for root beer, so this was the drink all dressed up in green bow ties.

Succulents in place of flowers and candles on burlap to pop against the white table cloth.

These paper mobiles were so easy to make!

I had seen this idea at Soel Boutique and logged it away to use someday.

For our make shift photo booth we had a white back drop and a basket of props.

Our baby boy props included:

baby dolls, heart pillow, pregnancy belly,

It was a great way to entertain everyone while others were eating and arriving.

Last week was packed!

It all started on Tuesday with a baby shower my sister in law, friend (Shannon's sister), and I planned for this beautiful sister in law, Shannon.

Complete with a make shift photo booth.

More photos to come!

Then off to a few days in Lake Arrowhead with my second family.

It was beautiful, relaxing, and much needed! It was so great to spend so much time with all of them like the good old days.

Home for an impromptu dance party while we unpacked and got ready for our weekend staycation with my family.

Dinner at Javier's and Sprinkles for dessert.

All day beach day on Saturday.

Home for baths and cleaning up all that sand and sunscreen.

Followed by hitting the theater to watch the funny Crazy Stupid Love.

Sunday morning we had a surprise rain storm complete with freshly baked cinnamon crumb cake and playing barefoot in the rain.

Then off to the sweet baby blessing of my boy Alfie.

I can not get enough of him.

This is just a typical day of sunbathing for him in Lake Arrowhead.

It was such a fun week, and I am now trying to get life back in order around here.

I love summer days.

Presley and I just got back this morning from an amazing stay in Lake Arrowhead with close friends.

I feel so relaxed and rejuvenated and am now ready for our weekend staycation with my side of the family.

Recent Project - Wood Stained Art

I recenttly completed a custom wood stained art piece.

My client/friend wanted one for over her sofa, and I thought it would be fun to make it oversized and she was on board.

We chose their wedding lyrics, that I now love.

Such a beautiful song.

It may have taken forever ... but was well worth it!

I can't wait to show you all the finished product soon.
